The Jiti Foundation is focused on empowering women in the poorest areas of India through combating preventable blindness. Jiti leverages the small size of the Foundation to minimize overhead in order to maximize the impact of each dollar donated to the most populous and poor states in India. Jiti values the impact of women and strives to empower women through Dr. Shroff Charity Eye Hospital’s program that provides a platform for young women in rural India to learn the basics of ophthalmic care in the most underserved communities in India. Their worldview is that India is not very different from the United States and they believe that it is important to strive to ensure that women are empowered and blindness is prevented in areas of significant need.
The mission of Jiti focuses not only combating blindness but preventing it. Jiti is empowering women with the tools necessary to provide proper eye care that will ultimately allow blindness to be prevented in the most densely populated and poor states of India. Jiti is solely focused in India in order to ensure that the dollars being donated are able to go the furthest toward uplifting their ultimate mission of empowering women, combating blindness and transforming lives. While many of Jiti’s competitors value either eye care or empowering women in different areas of the world, Jiti differentiates itself through its commitment to maximizing and sustaining the impact of each dollar donated for these underserved communities of India.
