Welcome to my portfolio. I am Madeline, a senior advertising major in the School of Media and Journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. I am passionate about the research and insights aspects of brand communication and am pursuing a career in strategy. My past internships and current studies have shaped me into a resilient and capable team player who adds positivity in faced-paced environments and moves the work forward.
When I was a kid, my parents had to limit how many questions I could ask in a day, and that curiosity never faded. I love writing and have an overappreciation for witty sentence structure, aphorisms and strongly-worded emails. My passion for communication fuels my desire to create work as beautiful as it is effective and as transformative as it is foundational. Brand Strategy & Insights Intern
Concentric is an innovative branding and marketing agency in the niche CPG space. They work scrappily to give small brands a powerful position within their category by identifying growth drivers and acting as a brand catalyst.
As a Brand Strategy & Insights Intern, I worked to understand clients' business to define their brand identity and target audience. Alongside the Concentric team, I conducted research and analyzed data to develop actionable strategy, and followed campaign implementation via auditing as well as social media content creation and implementation.
Dimoso PR
Account Services Intern
Dimoso stands for Digital, Mobile, and Social. As a tech-facing, London-based public relations agency, this close-knit team advocates for mobile apps and websites to get them the attention they deserve in the UK and across the world,
My time spent with Dimoso as an Account Services Intern allowed me to gain perspective on the world of Public Relations in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. Collaborating to produce and push press materials in a fast-paced and foreign environment, and conducting constant research to stay on top of tech trends and identify potential threats and opportunities for our clients led me to an artful balance of learning and contributing.
United States Senate
Constituent Advocate Intern
In the Raleigh office of United States Senator Thom Tillis, the Constituent Advocate Team acts as a liaison between the citizens of North Carolina and the federal organizations they touch to improve communication and resolve issues.
As an intern for this humble and hard working team, I was afforded the opportunity to speak directly with constituents to understand their concerns, and work together to accomplish their goals. The communications nerd in me was excited every day I entered that office, knowing my daily tasks served a larger purpose in defending and protecting the First Amendment.
AmWINS Inc.
Human Resources Intern
AmWINS is the largest wholesale distributor of specialty insurance in the United States. They are headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina and employ over 4,000 people across the globe.
As a human resources intern at AmWINS, I worked to consolidate employee travel itineraries for corporate conferences under the Director of Events and conducted research on behalf of the Director of Education and Professional Development. My favorite project, though, was the ideation, creation and implementation of two animated videos for use in company-wide on-boarding. With one foot in HR and the other planted firmly in marketing, I worked across departments to align a vision and materialize it.
